Through our baptismal promises we are all called by Christ to be missionaries. With this in mind, the Mission Office would like to invite you to get involved by praying, volunteering and/or supporting missions financially.
First, and most important, Pray
In the Holy Father's message for World Mission Sunday he calls on all the faithful to pray the Rosary. Our Los Angeles Mission Office has added a special section to our web page for a World Mission Rosary.
Remember the missions in your prayers. Holy Childhood Association asks children to pray daily...
Holy Mary, mother of Jesus Pray for us, and all the world's children Amen
En Espanol: Santa Maria, Madre de Jesus, Rezar por nosotros, y por todos los ninos, del mundo, Amen
Our Mission Circles remind their members to pray for the missions. Click here for a prayer in English and Spanish from the Propagation of the Faith.
At your parish speak up for the missions; encourage others to always remember the needs of the missions in all our activities. For information on how you can help with the up coming Synod read Global Concerns.
Are you being called to give a few years of service to the Missions? Learn more about the Lay Mission-Helpers Association and the opportunities for service this program offers lay men, women and families.
Join a Mission Circles whose members meet to pray, and keep in contact with missionaries. These Mission Circles also do fundraising and some go further to gather donations of supplies and material to send to the missions.
The reality of the material needs of the missions can never be overstated. Living in the United States it can be difficult to even imagine life without electricity, clean water, and a social support system which exists to help people through difficult times.
The reality is that many people in the missions do not have clean water, they do not have homes, access to education, or opportunities to make changes in their lives.
The history of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles is that of tremendous generosity in support of misionaries and in response to the needs of the missions.
You can make a donation on-line and designate it to any of the programs within the Mission Office. You can also send a donation by mail to the Mission Office. If you have attended Mass and heard a speaker making a Mission Co-Op Appeal and would like to make a donation to a specific Diocese or community you can do so. You can also search, by Church or date to designate your gift.
We invite you to look into Planned Giving to remember the work of the Mission Office in your Will or Trust.
