HOW TO HELP HCA Holy Childhood Association is an organization of children helping children. In the schools and religious education programs of our Archdiocese children learn about their sisters and brothers in the missions, and find ways to help. If you want to help HCA, if you want to help children who are hungry, cold, sick, homeless, or lacking the opportunity to go to school, you can: |
| PRAY Say this prayer every day: HOLY MARY, MOTHER OF JESUS, PRAY FOR US AND FOR ALL THE WORLD'S CHILDREN. |
| LEARN Look in the newspaper for pictures of children in other countries who are in need of help. Read or ask someone to read to you about them. Learn about your brothers and sisters in other places. |
| SAVE Make an HCA Bank. Save your pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollars. How? Offer to do a special chore at home. If you get some money for doing it, put the money into your HCA bank. Do you get an allowance? Put a little of it into your HCA bank each week. Involve the whole family in HCA. Ask everyone in the family to count how many pairs of shoes they have. Ask them to put a nickel for each pair into your HCA Bank. Do you get ice cream or treat money to take to school each day? How about sharing it once a week with a child who has nothing to eat. |

BE GRATEFUL Sometimes we don't like to go to the doctors, but did you know that there are children in the missions who need to see a doctor, or need medicine, and there are no doctors, no medicine for them. Did you know that there are children who do not have enough clean water to drink? We should not waste what we have. |
| Be a Part of HCA! Do you go to a school or a religious education program that participates in HCA? Is it October for the Extra Mile Program? Is it Advent for Hope House program? Or is it Lent? At all of these times there is a special HCA program going on. You can be part of it! |
